The beast roars, hungry
Screaming and roaring at her
He is invisible to everyone else
He makes her head hurt; she doesn’t need this
Her life is torture enough
Then he whispers slyly
Tells her if she feeds him
Enough
She won’t have to be tortured
The girl listens
Knows she shouldn’t
The girl feeds her Need, the beast
He thanks her, lowers the torture
But in time
He gets selfish
Conceited
Demanding
He wants more and more in return
And finally-
She hasn’t a prayer of survival
She gives him all he wants
As the blood runs from the barely conscious girl
The Need whispers that she’s almost there
As her body lays on the cold table
The beast reaches a hand forward
He’s had his fill
He leads the girl to her paradise, nods, and turns away
Leaves her by those gates as he finds his next supplier
Is he ever satisfied?
As, one after another, young people find their ways to the gates
Assisted by he
I think
He never shall be
Screaming and roaring at her
He is invisible to everyone else
He makes her head hurt; she doesn’t need this
Her life is torture enough
Then he whispers slyly
Tells her if she feeds him
Enough
She won’t have to be tortured
The girl listens
